George was the first of The Beatles to come out with a solo album, after they had all split up, it was called My Sweet Lord. He did not have a very successful solo career.

Farewell George
At the age of 58, on December 1st, 2001, George died of cancer after having it for a long time. He will be remembered as an outstanding guitar player, and will be deeply missed.
